INTEGRATING DATA ENGINEERING, EXPLORATORY ANALYSIS, AND PREDICTIVE MODELING FOR CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE RISK STRATIFICATION AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CAPACITY PLANNING

Authors: Olawale Ajibola Ashaolu

Country: USA

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease remains a major healthcare burden, requiring health systems to identify high-risk patients
while simultaneously maintaining sufficient emergency capacity for fluctuating clinical demand. Increasing
volumes of heterogeneous healthcare data provide opportunities to integrate patient-level risk intelligence with
operational planning, yet fragmented data architectures frequently limit effective analytical deployment. This
study develops an integrated framework combining scalable data engineering, exploratory analysis, predictive
modeling, and emergency department capacity forecasting. Structured clinical records, laboratory measurements,
demographics, vital signs, medication histories, utilization records, and unstructured clinical information are
consolidated through a standardized data engineering pipeline supporting quality validation and analytical
readiness. Statistical and visual exploratory analyses characterize cardiovascular risk distributions, variable
relationships, temporal patterns, and clinically relevant population differences. Predictive models subsequently
estimate patient-level cardiovascular risk and stratify individuals into actionable risk categories. Aggregated risk
predictions and historical utilization patterns are incorporated into emergency department demand forecasting to
estimate anticipated workload and inform staffing, bed capacity, monitoring requirements, and resource allocation.
The framework establishes a unified analytical pathway connecting clinical risk prediction with operational
decision support for proactive healthcare planning.
